DWS (Deutsche Bank)

Xtrackers is the ETF brand of DWS, the asset manager born in 1956 inside Deutsche Bank (founded 1870) and now listed in Frankfurt, with the bank as controlling shareholder. The brand launched in 2007 as “db x-trackers” and took its current name in 2018: it is consistently among Europe’s top three ETF issuers, with historic leadership in German-speaking markets.

What sets it apart. Born with deep synthetic replication know-how, it progressively converted much of the range to physical replication, keeping swaps where they offer a demonstrable tax edge (e.g. on US dividend withholding). It is also home to Xeon, the money-market ETF most popular with Italian savers — reviewed in our money-market hub. Funds domiciled in Luxembourg and Ireland.
