BlackRock

iShares is the ETF brand of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, founded in New York in 1988. The iShares brand was born in 2000 inside Barclays Global Investors and joined BlackRock in 2009: today it accounts for roughly a third of the global ETF market, with Europe’s widest UCITS range.

What sets it apart. Scale is its edge: huge, liquid funds like the S&P 500 (CSPX), physical replication almost everywhere and systematic securities lending that often improves the tracking difference. The group also runs Aladdin, the risk platform used across half the financial industry.
